What is an infant and early childhood mental health consultant (IECMHC)?
An IECMHC is a mental health professional who partners with parents, day-care providers, teachers, and other early childhood professionals to improve the social, emotional and behavioural health of children in the home, child care or early education programs. IECMHC builds capacity in all care givers to understand the influence their relationships and interactions have on young children’s development thereby improving children’s well-being and preventing physical and mental health problems.
